Western frontiers of the USSR, 1942. The region is under German occupation, and local partisans are fighting a brutal resistance campaign. A train is derailed not far from the village, where Sushenya, a rail worker, lives with his family. Innocent Sushenya is arrested with a group of saboteurs, but the German officer makes a decision not to hang him with the others and sets him free. Rumours of Sushenya�s treason spread quickly, and partisans Burov and Voitik arrive from the forest to get revenge. As the partisans lead their victim through the forest, they are ambushed, and Sushenya finds himself one-to-one with his wounded enemy. Deep in an ancient forest, where there are neither friends nor enemies, and where the line between treason and heroism disappears, Sushenya is forced to make a moral choice under immoral circumstances.
In the countryside of England, lonely farmer Nancy raises her daughters Hanna and Amy with financial difficulties in her farm with her only employee Cooper since her husband has disappeared a long time ago. Her neighbor Karsten and his son intend to buy her farm and are pressing the family in an abusive way. Out of the blue, wanderer Aden appears in the farm and helps Nancy with the delivery of the offspring. Aden explains that he was a friend of her husband Dean in an offshore rig and he offers to work for food and lodging. Nancy accepts the offer and soon she has a love affair with Aden. After leaving the force, Elijah Kane (Steven Seagal) falls back into his special forces past, re-emerging from the ashes of his destroyed Special Investigations Unit to once again work for the government. Aware of his skill as a long-range sniper, Kane is recruited by Marcus Mitchell (Adrian Holmes) of the CIA to come back as an operative. In return, Marcus promises that the CIA will provide information to Kane about who put out the hit on his SIU team. Kane is given a long-term off-the-grid mission to take out a high level target that the CIA cannot go after in the traditional way. Marcus feeds Kane intel that leads him into the targets circle with a goal of getting Kane close enough to take a kill shot from a distance. Only then will the identity of the target be revealed to the team. For this operation, Kane recruits three agents to form a new team of operatives. All three are trained by Kane and ultimately driven (like Kane) by not just business, but also for personal reasons.

A young monk leaves town to seek his father’s counsel after being disturbed by the murder trial testimony of the bandit Singh Khan, the wife of the deceased warlord, and a shaman who conjures up the warlord’s spirit. Along the way, he encounters a poor man who testified at the trial, and the two take refuge in an abandoned burial tunnel during a storm. They are met by an old beggar who joins in their lively conversation about the trial. In vivid detail, each story is witnessed on screen as it’s told from the bandit’s, the wife’s and the warlord’s perspectives, all riddled with bias and personal agenda. In the end, the young monk is left to determine what meaning is of true consequence not only in this murder trial, but in choosing to continue on his monastic path.
