In 1944, the American military lands on the shores of Saipan. Refusing to commit suicide with his superiors or be forced into camps for prisoners of war, Captain Oba Sakae (Takenouchi Yutaka) leads a group of his men and other similarly minded local residents into the mountains. Even after hearing reports of the Japanese military’s surrender, Oba dismisses the reports as propaganda and continues to launch guerilla attacks against the American soldiers, earning him the nickname “The Fox”. Soon, even the American commander who’s charged with the task of capturing Oba comes to admire his persistent enemy.
After discovering her boyfriend is married, Carly Whitten tries to get her ruined life back on track. But when she accidentally meets the wife he’s been cheating on, she realizes they have much in common, and her sworn enemy becomes her greatest friend. When yet another affair is discovered, all three women team up to plot mutual revenge on their cheating, lying, three-timing SOB.

In a notable shift in tone from his recent successes, Hong Kong director Pang Ho Cheung takes a more serious look at his home town in Aberdeen, and the myriad challenges facing its inhabitants, as experienced by the Cheng family. An increasingly despondent tour guide, Wai Ching (Miriam Yeung) wrestles with lingering grievances about her dead mother, while her doctor husband, Yau (Eric Tsang) has drifted into a steamy affair with his buxom young nurse (Jacky Choi).

In 1964, world champion boxer Muhammad Ali requested exemption from the military draft based on his religious beliefs. His request was denied and when he refused induction into the army, he was convicted and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. His case eventually works itself up the Supreme Court. In their first conference after the case is presented, the justices decide by majority vote to uphold the conviction and Justice John Harlan is tasked with preparing the majority opinion. He assigns one of his clerks, Kevin Connolly, to prepare a first draft but try as he might he believes that decision his wrong. His draft argues for overturning the conviction and Harlan agrees with him. The justice must now find a way to convince his colleagues.
