Playing with Fire (Laro sa Baga) features a protagonist whose identity is characterized primarily by his sexuality. Early on, Ding develops an infatuation for his godmother/ surrogate parent Carmen. Realizing the futility of his infatuation, he falls for Dee, Carmen’s adopted daughter. Before anything else develops between them, Carmen finds a way to seperate the two. Growing up, Ding seeks out Dee for a second time and they fall for one another. But their affair is short-lived, as the people surrounding them orchestrate to seperate them – permanently this time.
