A very moving and extremely well made war movie! Excellently filmed and presented Kokoda delivers on all levels! This film is not for the squeamish, it has its gore but only adds to the realism of the events.
A decimated platoon of Australian soldiers from the 39th battalion have been set as a forward patrol far outside the perimeter of Isurava, a village on the Kokoda track. After sustained bombing and lethal attacks from the Japanese, the men are cut off from their supply lines and all communications. Isolated, they must make their way back to get to the main body of Australian troops. Allegiances form, strengths and weaknesses emerge, and leadership battles threaten to destroy the group… After three days with no food or sleep, they emerge from the jungle exhausted to the point of collapse. But on learning that Isurava is about to fall they pick themselves up and rejoin the battle…
