With a theme tune that topped the UK music charts, crime stories that didn’t shy away from sex and drugs and gangsters, a precinct made up largely of Amsterdam canals and a moody blond hero at its heart, the British detective series VAN DER VALK ran for 32 episodes over five series between 1972 and 1992 as British audiences were captivated by their first truly international detective. This is VAN DER VALK re-imagined in the Amsterdam of 2018 and beyond aiming to captivate audiences all over again with a new raft of compelling crime mysteries.

Season 1, Episode 01 – “Love in Amsterdam”
A body of a student is found in the port of Amsterdam. Van der Valk and his team are tasked to solve this case, but are somewhat distracted by the arrival of a new employee, the internet expert Job Cloovers. A second body is found later and the question pops up whether they are connected to each other or not. The investigation leads them to the Amsterdam art world and to the municipal politics.

Season 1, Episode 02 – “Only in Amsterdam”
Van der Valk is contacted following the death of a young woman. The investigation brings him into contact with a nun interested in erotica, a Christian sect and a drug facility with a controversial approach to addiction.

Season 1, Episode 03 – “Death in Amsterdam”
In this final episode, when the brutal killing of a fashion vlogger is broadcast live, Piet van der Valk and his team find themselves drawn into investigating the contemporary fashion world.
