We know it’s probably impossible to get the Duchess of Cambridge on a magazine cover — but is faking it really the way to go? That’s the route Marie Claire South Africa took for its very controversial August issue, taking Kate’s smiling face and pasting it on a model’s body in an admittedly fake fashion spread.
The story itself focuses on South Africa’s budding designers, and since Kate has become such a fashion icon, the Photoshopping is a way to ‘dress’ her in those designers’ garments through the wacky pics and some additional sketches, too. There’s even an interview with the model who served as Kate’s body double. (“Playing Duchess for a day was a good reminder that somewhere inside of me (and all of us) resides a princess,” she says.)
We know the spread is all in good fun — and fashion — but does it go too far? What do you think? Legal or Illegal? Please drop a comment on your thoughts. Thank you.
