FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE tells the story of the struggle between a Ming Dynasty general (played by Jet Li) and his rival, a powerful eunuch (played by Chen Kun). Tsui Hark, who also acted as the screenwriter for the film, has emphasised that it is not a remake of his 1992 film NEW DRAGON GATE INN.
