After leaving college for summer break, J Roc returns to the Rocky Mount, NC neighborhood where he came of age in the midst of gang wars. Once home, the new local gang feels he is intruding on their territory and suspect J Roc of taking money away from the Gang Boss “Pressure”. This transpires into events where J Roc must protect himself, therefore transforming him into a Savage.
