Confident, working single-mom-of-one Jackie is shocked when her estranged sister Elizabeth lands on her doorstep along with her outrageously-wealthy husband Javier and his loyal assistant/driver/friend Luis: Javier’s father has cut him off, the couple’s money has dried up, they need a place to live, and Elizabeth can think of no better place than her family home.

A single suburban mother struggling to make ends meet finds her estranged sister and her sister’s outrageously wealthy husband in need of a place to live after the couple’s money dries up.

Season 01, Episode 02 – “JOBS”
Jackie encourages Javier and Elizabeth to get jobs so they can contribute financially to the household. Javier gets work as a ride share driver, with Luis’ help, and Elizabeth is employed as a personal shopper. Also, Jackie worries Sammy will get hurt by becoming so close with his uncle Javier

Season 01, Episode 03 – “THE DANCE”
Javier and Elizabeth learn their rich friends are in town. Now, they muster up the courage to ask them to pay back the large amount of money they are owed. Also, Jackie complains of being undervalued at work, and Luis convinces her to ask for a raise

Season 01, Episode 04 – “MOM’S SECRET”
Jackie and Elizabeth are scandalized when they find their mom’s secret love letters that suggest she had an affair. Also, Javier takes an unexpected job as a painter.

Season 01, Episode 05 – “DATES”
Javier and Elizabeth decide to help Jackie and Luis get back into the dating scene by setting them up on blind dates; Elizabeth struggles to connect with Sammy.

Season 01, Episode 06 – “LOSING MY RELIGION”
Jackie gets into an argument with Javier when she discovers he’s been taking Sammy to church on Sundays. Also, when Elizabeth attends Luis’ spin class, he gets jealous when she garners the attention of the instructor.

Season 01, Episode 07 – “DADDY ISSUES”
Javier decides to go with Jackie to visit her father, in prison and retroactively ask permission to marry Elizabeth so their marriage isn’t cursed. Also, Luis teaches Elizabeth to drive and, while picking up Sammy from school, learns Sammy’s being bullied.

Season 01, Episode 08 – “SOCCER”
When Jackie’s angry outburst gets her banned from Sammy’s soccer games and the coach quits, Javier steps in to coach the team. Also, Elizabeth tries to teach Jackie mindfulness and encourages her to apologize to the soccer league’s commissioner.

Season 01, Episode 09 – “BARRY’S BACK”
When Jackie’s ex-husband, Barry, unexpectedly shows up, she seizes the opportunity to gain full custody of Sammy. Also, Javier attempts to find a meaningful birthday gift for his wealthy father.

Season 01, Episode 10 – “SAMMY’S PROJECT”
When Sammy’s big idea for his school project fails, his family stays up all night to help him finish the assignment on time. As Jackie and Barry work on the map, they argue over their different parenting styles. Also, as Javier and Elizabeth help with the timeline, they argue about how to plan financially for their future.

Season 01, Episode 11 – “CINCO DE MAYO”
Jackie secures a liquor sponsor for the Cinco de Mayo party at Mitzy’s bar, and Javier is thrilled to be the emcee of the celebration. Also, Jackie gets jealous when she notices Barry flirting with the sponsor representative

Season 01, Episode 12 – “THE TEST”
Luis’ dad, arrives in town to test how Javier has handled being cut off financially. Also, Elizabeth agrees to help Jackie on a job and runs into her ex-boyfriend.

Season 01, Episode 13 – “SAMMY’S PARTY”
Sammy’s birthday party location suddenly falls through. The family rushes to set up the celebration in the backyard; Javier and Elizabeth decide to look for their own apartment.
